Who is the Callous Road Contractor on Owerri Road In Okigwe Town?

It is no longer necessary to debate whether there was need to completely excavate the Governor Rochas Okorocha asphalted and dualized St Marys Catholic Church to Okigwe Express Roundabout.

This is the popular and ever busy Owerri Road in Okigwe Township, Imo State.

It is the only entry point into the ancient and rustic Okigwe Township.

For ease of description, it is the road that leads straight from Owerri into Okigwe to Abia State University and beyond up to Afikpo.

It is the first and only dualized road with street lights in Okigwe Township courtesy of Governor Rochas Okorocha.

The discussion on the inappropriateness of destroying an existing motorable road Owerri Road in Okigwe Township instead of constructing other non-motorable roads begging for attention in the same town will be of no use now.

This is because a certain contractor is, courtesy of the present Governor Ihedioha government, on ground on that Oweri road in Okigwe Township and has excavated the entire stretch of the erstwhile tarred road and removed the medians and Steet Lights installed by the immediate past Rescue Mission government.

What beggars belief is how this contractor with his slow pace of work and non-consideration for health and safety standards has made life miserable and difficult for residents and commuters on that Owerri Road in Okigwe Township.

As we speak, ALL businesses on that Owerri Road and adjoining Streets in Okigwe Township have closed down because it is dust rain all over.

With the harmattan in place and heavy festive period traffic of commuters to and from neighbouring Uturu, Amasiri, Afikpo, Ohozara, Isuikwuato, Abiriba, Item, Ohafia and other communities in Abia and Ebonyi States passing through Owerri Road in Okigwe Township, it is now hell on earth with serious economic and health and safety hazards for residents and passers by.

This is therefore to call the concerned authorities to step in immediately and prevent an imminent epidemic crisis in Okigwe Township.

Okigwe Residents and commuters on Owerri Road in Okigwe Township must be saved from the hands of this callous and cruel contractor.

Okigwe residents can contribute to buy the moronic contractor water and a spraying tanker to contain the dust rain in Okigwe Township since he does not know what to do and since his contract does not contain such provision or those in charge are unwilling to get him to do the needful.
